Controls Investment Assures State-of-the-Art Data and Improved Customer Experience
May 26, 2016
Test Devices customers always demand and receive comprehensive, accurate test data. However, our team recognized an opportunity to further enhance both test data and user experience with highly advanced controls technology, so we recently invested in and implemented a new control center for our largest capacity (54”) spin rig.
The 54” rig is used for advanced services including high cycle fatigue (HCF), dynamic spin and low cycle fatigue (LCF) testing.
The new controls replace a conventional control cabinet, and provide significant benefits for customers and the Test Devices team:
Updated Instrumentation: The main control console and instrumentation for the 54” rig has
been completely updated.
Enhanced Operations: Faster control loops, reduced noise in test data, enhanced speed control, shorter cycle times for LCF, improved cycle accuracy, and overall easier data collection are among the most important and measurable benefits of the new controls.

- Customer Command Central: Customers now enjoy real-time, large screen viewing of critical data, including multiple (“quadrant screen”) display capability for ongoing monitoring during complex tests. The screen displays data as it is created, and a camera inside the rig allows the team to view the part as it spins.
